Aurubis – Developing a platform for occupational health service

ITIDO delivered a web-based platform that collects and manages data for each Aurubis employee, their current health status and working conditions. The platform collects and analyses the data in a highly secure way compliant with GDPR and ISO/IEC 27001.

Aurubis is a leading worldwide provider of non-ferrous metals. Aurubis process complex metal concentrates and diverse recycling raw materials. The company is a global leader for copper recycling.

Their challenge:

Aurubis approached us with the need of automation and digitalization of their data collecting process on employees and working conditions. Aurubis wanted to have a platform for occupational health service with the following requirements:

  • Artificial intelligence (AI) allowing them to take better decisions concerning work accidents and conditions.
  • Highly secure data storage.
  • GDPR compliant solution.
  • Scalable platform which allows 3rd party integrations.
  • Flexible reports/statistics.
  • Big Data Support.

The process:

  1. Understand the customer’s needs.
During the discussions with a customer it’s really important to ask questions not like ‘What?,’ but ‘Why?.’ Don’t be afraid to ask: ‘Why does this matter?’
Sometimes you may be surprised to find out the reasons behind a certain request and the kind of useful information customers are willing to share. This is our key to better understanding the customer’s domain.
  2. Plan the architecture design – Choosing the right tools and technologies which will serve the business’ needs is an essential part of the software development process.
We decided to use a micro service architecture and Java Spring.
  3. Develop the software by using Agile and Scrum methodology.
