The challenge
AIOPSGROUP is developing digital business process solutions that should fit well with existing software tools used by an enterprise customer. What was the challenge in particular? Internal analysis had shown that the enterprise had been missing lots of commercial opportunities with online retail shoppers due to insufficient delivery capabilities. After careful consideration, enterprise executives decided that it was not feasible to simply scale the logistics department. Rather, management was after a smarter solution to cater for more would-be shoppers and capture larger market share.
A joint, collaborative approach
Corporate planners proposed the creation of a network of lockers on neighbourhood level in each city where the brand operates. Items would be shipped to those lockers instead of arriving at individual addresses. This would enable faster delivery and cost savings.
Working side by side, the developers of AIOPSGROUP and ITIDO had to build the end-to-end software for that particular use case. Designed by the joint software team, the program had to accept retail orders and make sure they are delivered on time at the desired locker. In terms of data, it had to handle personal details, payment information, addresses, scheduling details, identification of the end customer at point of delivery, etc.
The solution goes live
Thanks to smart integrations with SAP, Salesforce and other ERPs, the team of ITIDO and AIOPSGROUP made sure that, for any desired item, the software is able to automatically determine where it is most feasible to source it. The system would pick the right warehouse based on availability of items and distance to the delivery end point among other factors. Moreover, orders would be automatically matched with suitable lockers (e.g. the implementation does not allow bulky items to be shipped to a locker that can’t accept anything larger than a shoe box).
The system is live and currently operates in Finland. Upon complete roll-out in the network, the increase in the enterprise’s revenue is forecast at 7.5% annually.
Based on the positive experience, the customer has аssigned over a dozen projects to AIOPSGROUP and ITIDO that are currently underway.
